Thoughts on religion... I'm trying to find what i truly believe on the subjective responses in the argument between god* (or a "Higher Bieng")... and science (evolution in both a physical AND mental sense). To live your life believing that we were put here (somehow, evolution being the only evident manner) for one (or any of infinite reasons). **I know we must be here for some ultimate universal reason but we won't find out what we (individualy) were here for untill we are dead...then we will find out whether we lived to whatever standards were set for us by whomever (science or a higher bieng). But i have a more specific question...why must we live to die just to find out how we should've lived** Changing the subject to the improbable debate of "Playing God" (excuse me....I mean, "higher Being"). Why are things that we "scientifically" evolved into to save life and cheat destiny (fate) not considered playing a higher being, yet things we "scientifically" evolved into to clone, perform abortions, kill convicted felons (I'm going to touch the death penalty subject later) are considered playing whatever higher being one believes in. Back to my original question on hand of "religion", I think it is almost "selfish" of us as humans to believe that everyone should live by a handful of "standards of living". Buddah was a real person that believed in his own "higher being". (I just wanted to express my positive outlook on Buddism as a "belief " (notice i don't refer to Buddism as a religion) for a moment) People who refer to Buddah as a higher being need to be re-educated on what they are following as a "standard of living". Buddah was (to be put simply) a philosopher, he simply reflected on things he noticed in his life and incorporated his thoughts into what he believed was a phesable "standard of living". What sparked my thought of buddism was the thought that everyone lives on each individuals "truth", the truth of what satisfies our mind. As an added thought on religion....christianity (not to offend anyone [this is how i feel]) has become blind to how it was initially inteded to be. Jesus [born of emaculate conception] grew up just as one of us, to question life and it's purpose. He made such an impact on the world and it's mental evolution with his beliefs. He had people that became so confident in his beliefs on life and it's meaning that they recorded his teachings into scriptures. But what about the "miracles" that jesus would perform? good question...my response to the "miracles" that he perfomed is actually put simply in a casually logical explanation, Jesus become so intact with his beliefs that he conquered his mind and learned how to (in an obscure sense) control his mind and lead people to become level with his ability to decieve an individuals perception of reality. Jesus left an impact because he showed us what truth, and belief was. Jesus expanded the the grey area between right and wrong. Jesus realized that everyone would live to absorb their own outlooks on what IS right or wrong. The evident event that supports Jesus' realization is when he became so intact with his inner truth and perception of right and wrong that he sacrificed his life not to relieve our sins, but to (as a matter of opinion) give us the strength [mentally] to live according to our own outlook on what is considered right or wrong. Jesus not once ever stated, or implied [again, this is just my thought] to his aposcles that he wanted them to record his teachings into scriptures that would eventually be formed into a compilation [the Bible]. The point I am trying to make is the mere fact that any BEING has the power to make the choices between what any one individual percieves right or wrong. Jesus [in a personal opinion again] had such a "pure" understanding of what he sought out to be right and wrong that he changed evolution (mentally) that his life became a standard of living for a number of individuals, and DIRECTLY affected politics which I look at as a "barrier" (keeping us from living to discover the individual perception of right and wrong), Jesus was crucified because he was not afraid to express his percieved "truth". Ok, since i brought it up...i would like to explore the theoretical importance behind government as a physical barrier and a controling factor on life. Government was "evolved" to try and control any of those "gray areas" in the spectrum of right and wrong. Government quickly became such an important factor in daily life because of the wreckless (natural nontheless) behavior and lack of mental sanity in any civilization. If you take a very close outlook on history, "faith" has given individuals both mental and physical strength to fight to protect what any given civilization or an organized orginatization BELIEVE to be right or wrong. For whatever reason we are meant to live for, one thing is evident...that each individual has the power to change the way individuals, religions, governments, organizations, and both radical and irradical beings percieve life and what it we are meant to do with the ONE--FINAL chance to live life. **The bible is full of "stories" that [this comment was made to me by a catholic priest just as side-note] were'nt intended to be directly interpreted as actual events. Take the story of Adam & Eve into reflection. This story wasn't intended to be percieved as a factual event...it was derrived to show how we are all entitled to making our own decisions whether or not we choose what (remaining undefined don't forget) is right or wrong. Though shall not kill....kill what? that statement to me has a much deeper meaning to me than just the normally OBVIOUS meaning., This was never defined into what this particular "COMMANDment" was specifically meant to be percieved as. Beings kill beings, that's how it has been since the origination of life itself. Throught evolution, killing has proved to be such an IMPORTANT factor to the evolution of civilization itself. These "COMMANDments" [a personal opinion again] just reenforce what we are meant to percieve as right and wrong. I don't want to get into my thought on each of the ten "COMMANDments" but hopefully i opened some thought on this topic, considering that this is the LEAST touched topic when [Religion] as a standard of living alone when being discussed. this is all I am going to touch out of my infinite number of questions and topics on life that are almost destined to remain unknown untill evolution allows civilization to discover them. |
